When someone asks for money towards a more expensive item they want for their birthday, it’s nice to give them something alongside the money, so they have an actual thing to unwrap. So when back in 2020 my brother asked for some money towards a new desk chair to improve his working from home setup, I decided to make him a mini model to go with it!

It was a very simple little model but I thought it would be a fun gesture! I used a scrap piece of pine to make a very basic seat shape and then rounded the edges slightly and sanded it thoroughly to make it smooth to touch.

I used a pine dowel for the seat post and then cut a cross out of a small piece of plywood using my coping saw to be the base.

I glued the pieces together and after leaving it overnight to dry, it was ready to be wrapped. I gave it to my brother in a brief permitted visit in his garden in the summer to celebrate his birthday between lockdowns and his highly entertained reaction showed me it was a perfect gift! 🔨
