Christmas presents – Teddy bear decoration

I love making gifts for people and when a work colleague had a baby shortly before Christmas, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to make a cute and baby-related Christmas decoration!

The basic shape cut out

I decided on a small bear decoration and cut the rough shape out of a piece of pine I had in the workshop. I drilled a hole for a ribbon and then hand sanded the bear to remove the saw marks and produce a smooth surface.

After hand sanding

Sanding took a little while due to all the curves but eventually the workpiece was finished and ready for a ribbon so it could be hung on the tree. I used a piece of a festive red ribbon, securely tied a knot and rotated the ribbon so the knot was inside the bear, leaving a smooth loop of ribbon.

Hanging on the tree

My colleague loved the gift and sent me a picture of the bear proudly hanging on her tree! 🔨
