Improved Dremel stand base

I find my Dremel stand really useful for a range of projects, but small items can fall through the holes in the base. Time to make an upgraded platform!

I invested in a Dremel stand a year or so ago (not sponsored) and made a basic base and platform to assist with carving work projects. This was a bit awkward to store however, so I decided to make a slimmed down, simpler version.

I used a left over piece of white melamine coated chipboard and cut it to the right dimensions to fit neatly on the platform. I made sure to leave the corners clear to fix the metal stand to a base plate.

I added a second piece of chipboard to the underside, drilled some holes to counter-sink the bolt heads, and then secured the base plate to the stand using nuts, bolts and washers. This provides the base with additional weight, which increases the overall stability of the stand. The slightly larger base plate also allows me to clamp the base plate to a surface easily, without getting in the way of carving. A quick and very useful project! 🔨
